Why do people think drugs are cool?

Drugs are becoming way more socially acceptable in recent years. Drugs are glorified today by celebrities using them to party then headlines occur when they go into drug rehab. Drugs are shown in tv shows,  movies, music, art, even in social media.

Drugs are easier to get in today’s society. Anyone can buy illegal drugs from their cell phones as if ordering pizza, instead of finding dealers in back alleys or taboo locales.

When people think drugs are cool, “peer pressure” can become a serious threat. A lot of young people are unaware of the full picture of the dangers and consequences that can result from a few bad choices.

The problem is that when people think drugs are cool, drugs aren’t becoming any less dangerous. Synthetic opioids make casual drug usage even more dangerous, and with the increasing social acceptability of drugs, there has been the increase of hospitalizations and deaths from overdoses.
